RIVER WEAR - COARSE SECTION
In 2005 the club decided to try for a one year period only a coarse fishing section for our stretch on the River Wear at Frankland Park. Membership was limited to 50 and in 2005 attracted some 40 applications. At the AGM in 2006 it was agreed by the members that we would continue with the Coarse Section on this stretch of river permanently.
The stretch offers excellent coarse fishing. In 2007 a barbel of 12lb 6ozs was caught, and we believe that there are larger fish than this. The beat also has dace and bream along with chub to 6lb.
It is very pleasing to know that both salmon/trout anglers and coarse anglers within the club get on very well with each other on this stretch.
For those anglers interested in joining this section of the club they should contact our coarse fishing secretary, Jerry Macbeth, through our email link requesting details about the coarse section. Please state your interest is for the coarse fishing section otherwise you will receive details about the salmon and trout fishing.
Note: Full members of the Club may fish for Coarse Fish, if they so wish, without further charge.
