| Thornton Steward Reservoir HOW TO GET THERE |
| Take the A1 South or North to LEEMING. Turn off onto the A684 in the direction of BEDALE.
Continue on through BEDALE* on the A684 and follow signs LEYBURN. Pass through PATRICK BROMPTON and carry on for a further 2 miles. Turn LEFT onto a minor road signposted FINGHALL.
Travel up the hill over the railway crossing, and after a sharp right-hand bend enter FINGHALL. About 60 yards into the village there is a road on the left signposted THORNTON STEWARD.
Take this road, pass the farm (Beware Muck and Cows on road) and carry straight on over the crossroads. After a short distance you will see the dam wall in front of you looking like a small rolling hill.
A little further on you will come to the CAR PARK on the right hand side.
* There is an awkward junction in BEDALE which can cause considerable delay. The above route is the easiest to follow in the first instance but there is a shorter and probably quicker route leaving the A1 at CATTERICK and going through TUNSTALL village.
