FISHERY RULES


  • Fishing is restricted to members of Felling Fly Fishing Club and members of the public who have purchased a permit for either a day or evening session .

  • All anglers 12 years and older must be in possession of an Environmental Agency rod licence before commencing to fish. Children aged under 16 years are not permitted on the reservoir unaccompanied. 

  • Anglers of 16 years of age and older require a valid fishing ticket. Where children under 16 are fishing, accompanied by a fee paying adult, they do not require a ticket but are subject to a joint single bag limit (Day 3 Fish, Evening 2 Fish).

  • Fishing times will be from 8.00 am to sunset for a day ticket and from 4.00pm to sunset for the evening ticket .

  • Fishing will be allowed with one rod and line for the purpose of catching and taking rainbow trout. Traditional fly fishing methods using only real or artificial flies may be used. No other method of fishing is allowed , i.e. spinning or the use of worms or bubble floats. Either floating or sinking lines may be used.

  • Barbless hooks must be used at all times.

  • Catch and release is permitted but the maximum number of fish which may be taken on any one day is THREE. This is reduced to TWO for the evening ticket.

  • Ground baiting and the use of boobies is totally prohibited

  • Wading is not permitted. (anglers may wear waders if they wish.)

  • No fishing from the pitchings, spillway or from any area where fishing is prohibited by a sign.

  • All fish under under 25 centimetres (10inch), all brown trout and coarse fish caught are to be returned to the water unharmed. A note of any such fish being caught on the Catch Return section of the ticket would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Before leaving the reservoir all anglers must fill in their catch return ( including "nil" returns) and put it in the box provided.

A breach of these rules may result in a ban without refund of day ticket fee.

Neither Felling Fly Fishing Club nor Yorkshire Water will  be responsible for loss or damage to personal property of those using the water.
