The River Garry & Loch Oich

Fishing is available between the dates shown Both dates inclusive
Migratory Fish Salmon and Sea Trout 15 January -- 15 October
Brown Trout 15 March -- 30 September

At the AGM in February 2008 it was announced that the two rods on this water, lost in 2005, had been offered to the Club for the 2008 season and are confirmed for the 2009 season. The River Garry offers spring fishing for salmon from the 15th January. The fishings are at Invergarry situated north of Fort William and south of Fort Augustus in Inverness-shire, alongside the junction of the A82 with the A87.

There are two and a half miles of river fishing with over twenty named pools and also fishing on Loch Oich.

There is an up-to-date fishing lodge with all the requirements, for the day or week, with heating, micro wave etc. situated within twenty yards of the river.

The fishing for members may be booked by contacting Jim Irving who will arrange the fishing on your behalf.

Should you be going to fish for a few days or more then there are now four hotels which can accommodate you. Two are in the village which sits next to the river ( 1 & 2 ) and another is about seven miles away ( 3 ). The new addition (2009) is the Letterfinlay Lodge Hotel (4) on the banks of Loch Lochy, about 7 miles north of Spean Bridge and some 8 miles south of Invergarry on the A82. The proprietor of this establishment no longer has any connection with the administration of the fishing. Anyone considering visiting this hotel might be interested in Tom Little's review in "The Scotsman on Sunday". (15 March 2009).

The links below are not an endorsement of any particular establishment but as more members send in reports a picture is building up. Members have enjoyed the B&B at the Lundie View and, personally, I enjoyed my week staying in a log cabin at Highgarry Lodges on Ardgarry Farm. Very comfortable with friendly animals roaming the site. The first member to fish this stretch in 2008 stayed in a log cabin at The Great Glen Lodges at Kilfinnan about 5 miles from Invergarry and reports an idyllic spot. The Lodges website notes that, from the main road, there are 3 miles of single track road followed by 1/2 mile of rough forest track!

The Invergarry Hotel (1)  is under new ownership since I was last a patron of The Garry Bar which served good food and drink and is open to non-residents.

Some of the proprietors (but not all) listed below are prepared to offer a discount for our members so do mention the Club when you book. The River Garry offers spring fishing for salmon from the 15th January but most of the accommodation listed below closes for three months from the end of November until 1 March ( No doubt any that are open all year will let me know).
