WEAR (Durham) The Club has 2.5 miles of water on the River Wear, between Durham City and Franklin Prison. Although less popular than other venues, this stretch of the Wear offers first class angling for sea trout and also provides salmon, trout and grayling fishing of a high standard. The Club now (2007) has fishing lower down the river known as Moorhouse Woods by the National Trust but shown on O.S maps as Rainton Park Wood. The 2010 Season saw the addition of water at Low Grange Farm. This is a one mile stretch of river on the opposite bank to the lower end of our current Frankland Farm Beat. It offers excellent fly fishing for the salmon and sea trout angler as well as excellent parking and location to the river. For the 2005-2006 season the Club formed a Coarse Fishing section of Associate Members, as an experiment. The matter was reviewed at the 2006 A.G.M. and it was agreed to continue the section on a permanent basis. |

LIDDLE (Cumbria) July 2007 We have leased 610 metres of single bank fishing on the River Liddle, a tributary of the Border Esk, at Penton Bridge. This river (also known as Liddell Water) is famous for its run of sea trout from June onwards and salmon from July. There is also a good head of brown trout. This is the only Scottish river system where the Environment Agency (England and Wales) has jurisdiction and an EA Licence is required. |
